Long Beach’s role in the 2028 Summer Olympics

Long Beach-Olympics

You may have heard the news by now – Los Angeles will be hosting the 2028 Summer Olympics. This is exciting news for the U.S. and for the LA area in particular which previously hosted the summer games in 1984.

Long Beach is about 25 miles from LA, making it close enough to host some of the events. The Convention Center, where the 2017 Home Care and Hospice Conference and Expo is being held, will serve as a warm-up facility for athletes competing in the games. The attached arena will house the handball competition while temporary facilities will be created for BMX and water polo. As for the beach, swimming and triathlon events will take place along the waterfront and sailing will be along the Belmont Pier.

Long Beach has a lot to offer, athlete or not. Learn more about this beautiful beachfront oasis.
